About This Game
Quick Overview
Manor Lords is a medieval city-builder and strategy simulation where you grow a small village into a working town, manage resources, trade goods, survive seasonal changes, and eventually raise armies to fight for territory. It is developed by Slavic Magic, published by Hooded Horse, and released in Early Access on April 26, 2024.
What makes it stand out is the natural settlement-building. Instead of placing everything on a strict grid, you shape roads, homes, farms, workshops, and markets around the land, similar to how real medieval villages grew. The game also connects your economy to warfare, so when you send villagers into battle, those losses can hurt your town, not just your army numbers.
Who Should Play This Game?
Play Manor Lords if you enjoy slow, thoughtful strategy games where the fun comes from planning roads, food supply, production chains, trade, housing, and long-term survival. It is a strong fit for players who like Banished, Farthest Frontier, Anno, or city-builders with more realism and less arcade-style speed.
It is also good for players who want a mix of peaceful building and tactical battles. You can focus on growing your settlement, but the game also includes rival lords, militia, retinues, mercenaries, castles, and real-time battles where fatigue, weather, positioning, and equipment matter.
Skip it if you want a finished full-release game right now. Steam still marks Manor Lords as Early Access, and the developer says there is no fixed date yet for leaving Early Access.
Performance on PC
Manor Lords is not extremely heavy, but it needs a decent modern PC because it runs a detailed medieval simulation with lots of villagers, buildings, resources, and battles. Minimum specs list Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core i5-4670 / AMD FX-4350, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 2 GB / RX 460 4 GB / Intel Arc A380, DirectX 12, and 15 GB storage. Recommended specs list Intel Core i5-7600 / Ryzen 3 2200G, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1060 6 GB / RX 580 8 GB / Intel Arc A580, DirectX 12, and 15 GB storage.
For smooth gameplay, a 6 GB GPU and 12–16 GB RAM is the safer target, especially when your town becomes larger or battles start happening. It is also marked Playable on Steam Deck, but for best comfort, a desktop or laptop with mouse and keyboard will feel better because city-builders need lots of menu control and precise placement.
