About This Game
Quick Overview
Enshrouded is a co-op survival action RPG set in the ruined world of Embervale, where a deadly fog called the Shroud has swallowed much of the land. You play as a Flameborn, rebuilding safe bases, crafting gear, exploring ancient ruins, fighting bosses, and slowly pushing deeper into dangerous corrupted zones. The game supports solo play and co-op for up to 16 players, with survival, RPG progression, building, exploration, and combat all mixed together.
What makes Enshrouded stand out is that it feels less like a strict survival simulator and more like an adventure RPG with survival systems around it. You are not just chopping trees and watching hunger bars. You are climbing towers, clearing enemy camps, unlocking NPC craftsmen, shaping the land with voxel building, and creating huge fantasy-style bases in a hand-crafted world.
Who Should Play This Game?
You should play Enshrouded if you enjoy survival games but want more direction, quests, character builds, and fantasy combat. It is a strong pick for players who like Valheim-style exploration, base building, loot progression, magic, melee combat, and co-op adventures with friends.
It is also great for builders. The voxel-based construction system gives you a lot of freedom, so players who love making castles, villages, underground bases, and detailed fantasy homes can spend hours just creating. The game is especially fun in co-op because different players can focus on building, fighting, gathering, or exploring.
However, if you only want a hardcore survival game with brutal hunger, thirst, and realism, Enshrouded may feel lighter. Its main focus is adventure, progression, combat, and building rather than punishing survival mechanics.
Performance on PC
Enshrouded is more demanding than many survival games because of its large world, lighting, terrain editing, and detailed building system. The minimum requirements ask for a GTX 1060 6GB / RX 580 6GB, 16 GB RAM, and around 60 GB storage, so very old PCs may struggle.
On a modern mid-range PC, it should be playable, but performance can vary depending on your settings, resolution, base size, and how many players are in the world. Big builds and dense areas can hit FPS harder than normal exploration. For smoother gameplay, players should use an SSD, keep settings balanced, and avoid pushing everything to ultra unless they have a stronger GPU.
The good thing is that the game has continued receiving major updates during Early Access, and its full 1.0 release is planned for fall 2026, so performance and polish may continue improving before launch.
