About This Game

Quick Overview
XCOM: Chimera Squad is a smaller, faster tactical spin-off set after the events of XCOM 2, where humans, aliens, and hybrids now live together in City 31. Instead of commanding random soldiers in a global war, you control a fixed team of named agents dealing with crime, unrest, and dangerous factions inside one city.

The biggest change is the Breach Mode. Before many fights, you choose entry points, assign agents, and start the encounter with a quick tactical strike. It makes battles feel more immediate than classic XCOM, because you are not slowly searching the map for enemies — you are kicking through doors, choosing priority targets, and trying to control the fight from the first move.

Who Should Play This Game?
Play XCOM: Chimera Squad if you enjoy turn-based tactics but want something shorter, more focused, and less punishing than XCOM 2. It is a good pick for players who like squad abilities, tactical positioning, character synergy, and mission-based strategy without a huge campaign map.

This is not the best choice if you want the full classic XCOM experience with soldier permadeath, base building, and large-scale alien war. Chimera Squad is more compact and character-driven. The agents are unique, the turn order is more controlled, and the campaign has a lighter “tactical police unit” feel instead of desperate global resistance.

Performance on PC
XCOM: Chimera Squad is easy to run on most modern PCs. Steam lists Windows 7 64-bit, a 2.4 GHz quad-core CPU, 4 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7770 / NVIDIA GeForce 650, DirectX 11, and 18 GB storage as minimum requirements. Recommended specs mention a 3 GHz quad-core CPU, 8 GB RAM, and AMD Radeon R9 290 / GTX 980 or better.

Since it is turn-based, you do not need ultra-high FPS, but smoother performance helps with camera movement, breach sequences, and effects-heavy fights. Most mid-range PCs and even many older gaming systems should handle it well, especially compared to heavier modern strategy games.
