About This Game

Quick Overview
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you build a civilization from a small ancient settlement into a global empire. You explore the map, found cities, research technology, build wonders, manage diplomacy, fight wars, spread religion, and chase different victory types like science, culture, domination, religion, or diplomacy.

What makes Civilization VI stand out is its district system. Cities are no longer just one tile doing everything — you physically spread them across the map with campuses, holy sites, industrial zones, harbors, theater squares, and wonders. This makes city placement feel much more strategic, because mountains, rivers, coastlines, resources, and nearby tiles can completely change how strong your empire becomes.

It is the kind of game where one small decision early on can shape the next 300 turns. That “just one more turn” feeling is the real hook, and it is why Civ VI is still one of the most popular grand strategy games years after its 2016 release.

Who Should Play This Game?
Civilization VI is perfect for players who enjoy deep strategy, empire building, long campaigns, and planning many turns ahead. If you like games where you can win through brains instead of fast reflexes, this is one of the best choices.

You should play it if you enjoy managing cities, choosing leaders, balancing economy and military, building wonders, negotiating with other civilizations, and slowly turning a weak starting position into a powerful empire. It is also great for players who enjoy replayability, because every map, leader, starting location, and victory goal can create a different story.

However, it may not be for players who want quick action or short sessions. A single match can take many hours, especially on bigger maps. Civilization VI is relaxing at first, but later turns can become complex when you are managing many cities, armies, alliances, resources, and world events.

Performance on PC
Civilization VI is not very demanding by modern standards, but it can become heavier in late-game turns when the map is full of cities, units, trade routes, and AI decisions. The official requirements list a 64-bit system, Intel Core i3 2.5 GHz or AMD Phenom II 2.6 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB graphics card such as AMD 5570 or Nvidia 450, DirectX 11, and around 12 GB storage for minimum settings.

For recommended performance, the official specs list a 4th-gen Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz or AMD FX8350, 8 GB RAM, and a 2 GB GPU such as AMD 7970 or Nvidia GTX 770.

Overall, Civilization VI should run well on most modern PCs and laptops. The graphics are not the main issue — the bigger concern is turn time, especially in large late-game matches. A stronger CPU and 8–16 GB RAM will make the game feel smoother, while an SSD helps with loading. For low-end PCs, smaller maps and fewer AI leaders are the best way to keep performance stable.
