Performance on PC
RimWorld is very light on PC. The official Steam requirements list Windows 7, a Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000 or other shader model 4.0 GPU, and only 1 GB storage. Steam also notes that the Steam client itself now supports Windows 10 and newer from January 1, 2024.
Most modern laptops and desktops should run it easily, especially without heavy mods. The main performance issue comes later when your colony becomes huge, your map fills with animals, raids, items, and many colonists, or when you install lots of mods.
