About This Game
Quick Overview
Kerbal Space Program 2 is a space flight simulation game where you build rockets, launch missions, reach orbit, land on planets, and try not to turn your Kerbals into fireworks. It keeps the core idea of the original game: funny little astronauts mixed with surprisingly deep space physics.
The big idea was to make KSP bigger, cleaner, and easier to learn, with improved visuals, better tutorials, colonies, interstellar travel, and multiplayer planned over time. But the important thing to know is that Kerbal Space Program 2 is still an Early Access game, and its development situation has become uncertain after major layoffs and reports around Intercept Games in 2024.
Who Should Play This Game?
Play Kerbal Space Program 2 if you love rocket building, space experiments, orbital mechanics, and watching your own ridiculous designs fail in funny ways. It can still be interesting for players who enjoy testing spacecraft, learning through mistakes, and messing around with space systems.
However, this is not the safest pick for everyone. If you want the most complete and polished Kerbal experience, the original Kerbal Space Program is still the better choice for many players. KSP2 is better for curious fans who specifically want to see the sequel’s new visuals and ideas, while accepting bugs, missing features, and an uncertain future.
Performance on PC
Kerbal Space Program 2 is much heavier than the first game. The Steam page lists 16 GB RAM, 60 GB storage, and recommends GPUs like an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT, which is very demanding for a space simulation game.
Performance has improved since launch, but it can still struggle with large rockets, complex builds, physics-heavy scenes, and high settings. For smoother gameplay, lowering shadows, clouds, terrain detail, anti-aliasing, and resolution scale can help. Overall, KSP2 needs a strong PC to feel good, and even then, players should expect some rough edges because it is not a fully finished release.
