The Sinking City 2 All Weapons & Where to Find Them

By Samar 8 min read

If you’re trying to find all weapons in The Sinking City 2, the main campaign gives Calvin five standard firearms ranging from his starting pistol to a powerful grenade launcher found later in Arkham.

Only the Equalizer Mk. II is available automatically. The remaining weapons need to be collected while exploring locations such as The Silver Eel, Devil’s Reef Hotel, Akeley Memorial Hospital and the Arkham Fish Market. The Sinking City 2 All Weapons

Below you’ll find every main-game weapon location, how to reach each one and when it becomes available.

All Weapons in The Sinking City 2

Weapon Type Location Chapter
Equalizer Mk. II Pistol Starting Weapon Chapter 1
Field Surgeon Shotgun The Silver Eel Chapter 2
The Minuteman Submachine Gun Devil’s Reef Hotel Chapter 2
Black Reef Longshot Rifle Akeley Memorial Hospital Chapter 3
Linguist’s Folly Grenade Launcher Arkham Fish Market Chapter 4

For the quickest reference, the normal weapon progression is:

Equalizer Mk. II → Field Surgeon → The Minuteman → Black Reef Longshot → Linguist’s Folly

Equalizer Mk. II Pistol

Weapon type: Pistol

Location: Available automatically

Chapter: Chapter 1

The Equalizer Mk. II is Calvin’s starting handgun, so there is no weapon location you need to search for.

It will already be available in your inventory at the beginning of the game.

Despite being the first firearm you receive, the Equalizer remains useful for much of the campaign, particularly when you want to conserve ammunition for your more powerful weapons.

Because pistol ammunition is generally more practical for ordinary encounters, there’s little reason to waste shotgun shells, rifle rounds or explosives when the Equalizer can handle the situation.

Field Surgeon Shotgun Location

Weapon type: Shotgun

Location: The Silver Eel

Chapter: Chapter 2 – The Wake-Up Call

The Field Surgeon is the first new firearm you can add to Calvin’s standard arsenal.

You’ll reach its location after progressing beyond the Redemption Church and travelling through the flooded streets until your route is blocked by a huge dead whale.

This area contains a crane that you’ll eventually need to repair. Nearby you’ll find The Silver Eel, close to the Fire Department.

Enter The Silver Eel and make your way to the Safe Room.

From the Safe Room, head through the adjoining door to reach the area behind the counter. Look around the back section of the building and you’ll find the Field Surgeon shotgun waiting to be collected.

Picking it up also gives you access to the shotgun ammunition crafting recipe.

The Field Surgeon is particularly useful when enemies get too close. Shotgun ammunition is more valuable than ordinary handgun rounds, however, so it’s worth saving shells for tougher creatures and close-range emergencies.

The Minuteman Submachine Gun Location

Weapon type: Submachine Gun / Tommy Gun

Location: Devil’s Reef Hotel – Generator Room

Chapter: Chapter 2 – The Wake-Up Call

The next weapon is The Minuteman, a Tommy Gun-style submachine gun hidden deep inside the Devil’s Reef Hotel.

You’ll find it during the section involving the hotel’s basement and ventilation system.

Progress through Devil’s Reef until you can open the unusual basement lock and reach the lower corridors.

The route contains dangerous growths that can explode when Calvin gets too close, so shoot them from a safe distance as you move through the basement.

Continue until you reach the Generator Room.

Make sure you pick up the weapon before leaving the Generator Room.

The Minuteman’s high rate of fire makes it particularly useful when several enemies are pushing toward you at once.

The trade-off is ammunition consumption. Firing continuously can empty your supply quickly, so short controlled bursts are generally the better option.

Black Reef Longshot Rifle Location

Weapon type: Rifle

Location: Akeley Memorial Hospital – near the Prosthetics Workshop

Chapter: Chapter 3 – A Sight for Sore Eyes

The Black Reef Longshot becomes available while exploring Akeley Memorial Hospital.

Unlike the previous weapons, you can’t simply walk into the room and collect it. You’ll first need to assemble the Old Man’s Face Mask.

During your exploration of the hospital, you’ll find two separate halves of the mask.

Once you have both pieces, return to the Prosthetics Workshop and use the workbench to combine them.

Take the completed Old Man’s Face Mask.

Nearby is a special face-locked door that reacts to the mask. Use the Old Man’s Face Mask to open it and enter the room beyond.

You’ll also find the Note with Digit ‘0’ on the same table, which is connected to another hospital investigation.

The Black Reef Longshot gives you a much better option for dealing with enemies when you have enough distance to aim carefully rather than fighting at shotgun or submachine-gun range.

Linguist’s Folly Grenade Launcher Location

Weapon type: Grenade Launcher

Location: Arkham Fish Market – storage room near the Weighing Station

Chapter: Chapter 4 – Time and Tide

The final standard firearm is Linguist’s Folly, the grenade launcher.

You’ll find it during the Arkham Fish Market chapter, but reaching it requires two Leyden Jars.

The first Leyden Jar is obtained earlier while exploring the Construction Site and is used throughout the Fish Market to operate the strange Starfish mechanisms blocking various routes.

Later, you’ll reach the Abandoned Office and eventually enter Ma Fishface’s Shop.

After the sequence inside the shop, take the second Leyden Jar from the counter.

You should now have two Leyden Jars.

Return toward the Market Floor / Weighing Station area and find the door protected by two Starfish mechanisms.

Insert one Leyden Jar into each mechanism.

The door will open, allowing you to enter the storage room containing Linguist’s Folly.

Once you’ve collected the grenade launcher, you can also open the nearby shortcut.

Don’t forget to take the Leyden Jars back out of the mechanisms afterward. You’ll need them again while progressing through the Fish Market.

The grenade launcher is best saved for situations where its explosive damage actually matters, such as groups of enemies or particularly dangerous targets. Grenades are too valuable to waste on ordinary encounters.

Which Weapon Should You Get First?

You don’t have much choice with the Equalizer Mk. II because it is given to you automatically, but the first weapon worth actively looking for is the Field Surgeon shotgun.

It’s available relatively early and gives Calvin a much stronger close-range option.

After that, I wouldn’t skip The Minuteman inside Devil’s Reef Hotel. Having both a shotgun and submachine gun gives you significantly more flexibility before reaching Akeley Memorial Hospital.

The Black Reef Longshot then fills the long-range role, while Linguist’s Folly is better treated as a heavy weapon for situations where you genuinely need explosive damage.

A balanced arsenal therefore looks roughly like:

  • Equalizer Mk. II – routine enemies and ammunition conservation
  • Field Surgeon – close-range stopping power
  • The Minuteman – groups and aggressive enemies
  • Black Reef Longshot – accurate shots at longer range
  • Linguist’s Folly – groups, large threats and emergencies

The Sinking City 2 Bonus Weapons

The five weapons above make up the standard main-campaign arsenal, but there are additional firearms tied to bonus content.

These are not normal weapon pickups, so don’t spend time searching Arkham for them if your version of the game doesn’t include the relevant content.

Chthonic Arsenal Weapons

Players who pre-ordered The Sinking City 2 received the Chthonic Arsenal, which contains three additional weapons:

  • Shale Mary – Handgun
  • Breakwater – Shotgun
  • Tektite Tommy – Submachine Gun

Each is an alternative weapon with its own appearance and feature.

These were offered as a pre-order bonus, rather than weapons hidden somewhere in the normal campaign.

Bucking Bronco Revolver

Weapon type: Revolver

Requirement: The Holloway Manor DLC

The Bucking Bronco is another special firearm, but unlike the Chthonic Arsenal weapons, you earn this one by completing additional playable content.

Finish The Holloway Manor optional investigation and the Bucking Bronco revolver becomes available for use in the main game.

Completing Holloway Manor also rewards:

  • Kane’s Hefty Barrel
  • Kane’s Wrapped Grip
  • Revolver ammunition recipe

The Holloway Manor is separate DLC and is also included as part of the game’s Premium content.

All The Sinking City 2 Weapons Quick List

For the standard campaign, collect these five:

  1. Equalizer Mk. II – automatically available from the beginning.
  2. Field Surgeon – inside The Silver Eel during Chapter 2.
  3. The Minuteman – Generator Room in the Devil’s Reef Hotel basement.
  4. Black Reef Longshot – behind the Old Man’s Face Mask door at Akeley Memorial Hospital.
  5. Linguist’s Folly – behind the two-Leyden-Jar door at Arkham Fish Market.

Bonus-content weapons include the Shale Mary, Breakwater and Tektite Tommy from the Chthonic Arsenal, along with the Bucking Bronco earned by completing The Holloway Manor.

It’s worth collecting each standard firearm as soon as it becomes available. The Sinking City 2’s combat is built around limited resources, and having several different weapon types gives you much more control over which ammunition you spend in each encounter.
