However, it is not for everyone. If you want fast action, easy progression, or a casual survival experience, SCUM can feel too slow, too detailed, or too punishing.

Performance on PC
SCUM needs a decent PC, especially because it has a large open world, online servers, heavy survival systems, and detailed environments. The official minimum requirements list 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1060 3GB or RX 480 4GB, and an SSD with 80 GB of storage. For recommended settings, the Steam page lists a GTX 2060 or RX 5700, 16 GB RAM, and an SSD.

On lower-end PCs, expect stutters, longer loading, and performance drops in busy areas or populated servers. An SSD is important here, not optional. On a modern mid-range PC, SCUM should be playable at 1080p with adjusted settings, while stronger GPUs will help a lot at higher resolutions. Because it is an online survival game, server performance can also affect the experience, not just your hardware.
