Performance on PC
Rust is heavier than it looks, mostly because of large servers, big bases, dense monuments, and many players. The current Steam minimum requirements list Windows 11 64-bit, Ryzen 5 1400 / Intel Core i5-6600, 12 GB RAM, RX 470 / GTX 1060 / Intel Arc A580, DirectX 11, broadband internet, and 45 GB storage. Steam also says an SSD is highly recommended because hard drives can cause long loading times.
For smoother gameplay, 16 GB RAM or more, an SSD, and a strong CPU help a lot. Rust can run on mid-range PCs, but crowded servers, huge player bases, and high graphics settings can cause FPS drops. Lowering shadows, draw distance, tree quality, and effects can make the game feel much better, especially during raids or busy monument fights.
