About This Game

Quick Overview
Mafia III: Definitive Edition is a story-driven open-world crime game set in 1968 New Bordeaux, a fictional version of New Orleans. You play as Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran who returns home, gets betrayed by the Italian mob, and starts a brutal revenge campaign to take the city apart district by district.

This edition includes the base game plus the story DLCs, making it the most complete version of Mafia III. The game is more aggressive and action-heavy than the first two Mafia games. Instead of slowly joining the mob, you are building your own criminal empire, taking over rackets, weakening bosses, and choosing who controls each part of the city.

Who Should Play This Game?
You should play Mafia III: Definitive Edition if you like revenge stories, open-world crime games, stealth takedowns, loud shootouts, and games with a strong 1960s atmosphere. The soundtrack, muscle cars, city design, and political tension give it a different flavor from the older Mafia games.

It is also a good pick for players who enjoy clearing districts, upgrading allies, and slowly taking control of a map. Lincoln feels heavier and more dangerous than Vito or Tommy, so combat has a more brutal style. You can sneak through enemy territory, call in support, or go in with shotguns and explosives.

You may not enjoy it if you dislike repetitive open-world structure. Many missions involve attacking rackets, interrogating enemies, destroying supplies, and weakening the same type of criminal operations. The story and setting are strong, but the gameplay loop can feel repeated.

Performance on PC
Mafia III: Definitive Edition is not too demanding for modern PCs, but it can still feel uneven because the PC version has a history of technical issues. The Steam requirements list Windows 7 64-bit, an Intel i5-2500K / AMD FX-8120, 6 GB RAM, a GTX 660 / Radeon HD 7870, and 50 GB of storage as the minimum setup. For recommended settings, Steam lists an Intel i7-3770 / AMD FX-8350, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 780 / GTX 1060 / Radeon R9 290X.

On a current mid-range PC, 1080p should be easy, but smooth frame pacing is more important than max graphics. If you notice stutter while driving or fighting, lower shadows, reflections, anti-aliasing, and volumetric effects first. The game’s open city and heavy driving can make performance feel less consistent than the older Mafia titles.
