About This Game
Quick Overview
How to Fish is a chaotic 1–4 player physics-based fishing game that turns a simple fishing trip into something much stranger. After crashing onto a small island, you begin with almost nothing and have to catch fish, sell what you find, and slowly earn enough money for better rods, equipment, and weapons. Despite the name, fishing is only part of the experience, with combat, exploration, quests, and ridiculous physics playing a major role.
Progression takes you across new islands where the creatures become more dangerous and the available gear becomes stronger. You can hunt rare fish variants, fight bosses, attempt trick shots for extra money, and even gamble your catches. The result feels less like a serious fishing simulator and more like a co-op sandbox built around unpredictable situations and funny moments with friends.
Who Should Play This Game?
How to Fish is best suited to players who enjoy casual co-op games where having fun with friends matters more than realistic simulation. Its physics-driven interactions, unusual weapons, strange sea creatures, and deliberately silly situations make it especially appealing if you like multiplayer games that regularly produce unexpected moments.
It can also be played alone, but the unpredictable physics and cooperative chaos are a large part of its appeal. If you want a realistic fishing simulator with detailed equipment management and authentic fishing techniques, this probably is not the right choice. If you want to catch a fish, fight it, sell it, upgrade your gear, and occasionally do something completely ridiculous in the process, it fits that style very well.
Performance on PC
How to Fish has fairly lightweight PC requirements. Steam lists Windows 10 or newer, an Intel Core i5-5257U or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 460-class graphics card as the minimum hardware. It also requires only around 1 GB of available storage.
These requirements are low compared with most modern PC games, so many older gaming PCs and budget systems with a dedicated GPU should be capable of running it. The developer currently does not provide a complete recommended specification, however, so there is no official hardware target for higher resolutions or high-refresh-rate gameplay.
