Grounded 2 is an open-world survival adventure where you are shrunk again, but this time the world is much bigger than the backyard. The game takes you into Brookhollow Park, where everyday places become dangerous survival zones filled with insects, hidden threats, crafting materials, and base-building opportunities. It launched in Early Access on July 29, 2025, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal.
The biggest new hook is the Buggy system. You can hatch, raise, ride, and fight alongside insect companions, making exploration feel faster and more adventurous than the first game. It still has the classic Grounded loop of gathering, crafting, building, and surviving, but the sequel feels more like a miniature open-world expedition than just backyard survival.

Grounded 2 is perfect for players who enjoy survival games with personality. It is a strong pick if you like crafting bases, exploring dangerous areas, fighting giant insects, upgrading gear, and playing co-op with friends.
You should play it if you enjoyed the first Grounded, or if you want a survival game that feels playful instead of depressing. But since it is still in Early Access, it may not be ideal for players who want a fully finished story, perfectly balanced systems, or a complete 1.0 experience right now.

Grounded 2 is much heavier than the first game. Steam lists the minimum specs as Windows 10/11, Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel i5-8400, 16 GB RAM, RX 5700 / GTX 1070 / Intel Arc A580, DirectX 12, and 40 GB storage. Recommended specs go up to Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel i7-10700K, 16 GB RAM, and an RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080.
On a modern mid-range PC, it should be playable with adjusted settings, but weaker laptops may struggle. Because it is an Early Access survival game with large areas, enemies, co-op, base-building, and Unreal Engine 5 visuals, expect performance to improve and change as updates continue.
