Crimson Moon is a compact action RPG that mixes Soulslike combat with a dark fantasy world and roguelite-style progression. Its strongest quality is easily its atmosphere. The environments look excellent, exploration feels rewarding, and the world carries enough visual personality to keep the relatively short adventure interesting from beginning to end.

Combat is enjoyable without being especially punishing. Players already comfortable with Souls games will probably find most bosses manageable, but the encounters still have enough variety to stay entertaining. The permanent progression system adds another layer between runs, although it is not explained particularly well and can feel confusing during the opening hours.

The biggest problems are currently on the PC control and camera side. Crimson Moon feels noticeably better with a controller, while keyboard and mouse players are missing several basic options that should be standard in a PC release.

Who Should Play This Game?
Crimson Moon is best suited to players who enjoy Soulslike combat but do not necessarily want another extremely demanding 40-hour experience. Its shorter length makes it easier to finish, while the beautiful environments and progression systems give players enough reason to explore instead of simply rushing from one boss to another.

It is also a good choice for controller players looking for an inexpensive action RPG that can be completed without a huge time commitment. Experienced Souls players should not expect brutal boss fights, but the combat is satisfying enough to make the journey worthwhile.

Keyboard and mouse players should be more cautious for now. The lack of proper key rebinding, mouse sensitivity controls, and other PC customization options makes the game much harder to recommend in its current state.

Performance on PC
Crimson Moon’s actual performance can be fairly smooth, but its PC experience is currently held back more by missing options and camera behavior than raw framerate problems.

There are no proper keybind settings, no mouse sensitivity adjustment, and no FoV slider. Ultrawide support is also poorly implemented, with the game effectively cutting vertical visibility instead of expanding the view naturally. This creates an unusually cramped perspective on wider monitors.

The camera becomes even more troublesome when locking onto enemies because it can tilt downward and reduce visibility further. During fast combat encounters, that makes positioning and reading enemy attacks harder than it needs to be.

With a controller, Crimson Moon feels considerably more comfortable and is much easier to recommend. Keyboard and mouse players, particularly those using ultrawide monitors, may want to wait until the developers improve the controls, FoV, camera behavior, and display support.
