CONSCRIPT is a survival horror game set during World War I, putting you inside the trenches, forts, and ruined battlefields of Verdun. You play as a French soldier trying to survive the nightmare of war while searching for his missing brother.
Instead of using cheap jump scares, CONSCRIPT builds fear through low ammo, limited healing, locked doors, dark areas, disturbing sound design, and constant resource pressure. It feels inspired by classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but the WW1 setting gives it a much harsher and more grounded identity. The Director’s Cut update also added major improvements, including redesigned levels, new items, combat changes, and harder difficulty options.
Who Should Play This Game?
Play CONSCRIPT if you enjoy old-school survival horror, slow exploration, inventory management, puzzles, and tense combat where every bullet matters. It is a strong pick for fans of Resident Evil, Signalis, Darkwood, Silent Hill, and other horror games where survival is more important than action.
You may not enjoy it if you want fast combat, modern AAA visuals, easy shooting, or a relaxed horror experience. CONSCRIPT is dark, stressful, and intentionally uncomfortable because it wants the war setting to feel dangerous and hopeless.
Performance on PC
CONSCRIPT is very light on PC. The official Steam requirements list Windows 10, a 64-bit processor, Intel Core2 Duo E4400 or AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 4 GB RAM, GT 1030 / Radeon HD 5970 / Intel Arc A310, DirectX 9, and only 1 GB of storage for minimum settings. Recommended specs are also low, with an Intel Core i3-540 or AMD Phenom II X3 720, 8 GB RAM, and GTX 750 / Radeon R7 260X / Intel Arc A310 for 1080p at 60 FPS.
Because it uses a top-down pixel-art style, most modern PCs and laptops should run it smoothly. A controller can work well, but keyboard and mouse are also fine if you prefer more direct aiming and menu control.
